JUNIOR HIGH FINISHES SEASON

The season for the 2011-2012 Middle School Wrestling team has drawn to a close with an exciting finale.  The Rockets finished the Sandusky Bay Conference tournament in 2nd place to Champion, Sandusky Perkins by only 2 points.  The Oak Harbor team was able to crown 6 individual champions out of their 8 finalists.  Jacob Huston 88lbs, started off a championship run, followed by Bruce Hrynciw at 94lbs and Tyler Bowlick at 100lbs.  Rhett Petersen was the next team member to win a title at 124lbs.  This caps off an undefeated 30-0 season as well as his 2nd SBC title.  Colton Bonom won a title at the 130lb weight class and Brandon Garber finished his junior high career with a title in the heavyweight division.

Two wrestlers that reached the finals, but came up short were; Dylan Mansor at 82lbs and Trevor Scherf at 112lbs. They both took second.

Others that placed for the team were; Dylan Thorp 118lbs 3rd, Isiah Nevel 3rd at 162lbs, Jacob Smith 4th at 144lbs, and Zach Smith 4th at 174lbs.

The team will return 5 finalists for next season, 3 of them returning champions as well as two more top 4 placers in the league.

The team finishes out with 1 tournament title, 2 runner-up finishes and two 3rd place finishes.  Their dual meet record on the year was 15-3.

Congrats to these guys on a good season and good luck to those who continue on in the pursuit of excellence....!!!

Varsity Takes Two Duals

Oak Harbor finished out their dual season on Wednesday night with two victories at Bellevue.  The team defeated Sandusky 57-9 and took down Bellevue 38-29.

With the dual against Bellevue hanging in the balance with a score of 29-29, Oak Harbor needed to win the last two matches remaining on the card.  Junior Luke Cramer came up with a 4-0 victory giving the team 3 points, then Freshman Ben Petersen stuck his opponent in 1:37, tallying another 6 points for the Rockets.

Double winners for the Rockets were; Mike Boss, Alec Bowlick, Luke Cramer, Alex Bergman, Jared Chambers and Tim Mossman.  Mike Osbourne, Jeremy Balboa, Hunter Gresh, Jim Chambers, Ben Petersen, Adam Crabtree, Seth Powell and T.J. Lawrence each won a match on the night.
